Banking Panel

“Is this the dawn of a new era in Banking?”

A joint event between ACFS and the Economic Society of Australia, proudly sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers.

The Senate Economics Committee Inquiry into Competition within the Australian Banking Sector has generated much heat and some light.

  1. How will its Report judge the Government’s “Competitive and Sustainable Banking System” proposals released in December 2010?
  2. How effective will the Report judge the degree of competition to be?
  3. Is the Report likely to lead to substantive changes in banking regulation?

These are among the questions to be considered by the panel.

Panel Speakers

  • Ian Harper, Director, Deloitte Access Economics;
  • Steven Münchenberg, Chief Executive Officer, Australian Bankers’ Association; and
